As they are a fan creation and also usually-less-then-perfect experiment, no one way is right or wrong! Use your imagination! Everyone’s character has different interpretations. 

Here are some tentaspies I know and a little about them:

(Lol this got really long, I just love monster-biology)

))) My Tentaspy Dominique (Fic here) has a sheathed penis-like appendage that is normally fully inside an anterior slit (like on dolphins) and is about 4 feet long when erect.  I akin his creator mimicked the biology of a Giant squid, who has a long penis appendage. (though on Domi it’s half human looking with the tip more like this). 

Domi’s altered DNA was engineered by a medic-type BLU tech and was then altered through a re-spawn on purpose.  He’s very water bound as his lungs dry out breathing on land after too long (he has a large pair of gills on his torso that connect to his lungs internally).  He deals with animal instincts, has viper-like venom able fangs, and

))) Bad Medicine’s Maurice (A fic with him in it is here), has a similar penis to Domi’s biological wise.  One version of his creation was that he was the result of a uber-heart-device experiment combined an accident as he was jolted alive (I might note Medicine had the ‘uber juice heart device’ idea before Meet the medic!) He has a far more efficient lung/gill system then my Domi, and can stay on land for longer periods of time.

))) GoingLoco’s Tentaspy Gio  has a penis that is like described for Dominique, sheathed and dolphin-like.  She even drew it here  :’D  He also lost his ability to taste and has super good color change control.  His markings are like that of a mimic octopus.

))) Corin was merged with a female octopus on the bottom so he HAS no dick (he also is capable of laying eggs to go with this, he has no beak).  He has gills on his neck, but they can’t indefinitely support him underwater.  He also to my knowledge has 2 hearts, can color change like a blue-ringed octopus, has venomous drool, and can ink.

))) “Ten” from Monster in the Water also has no penile appendage.  He was born as a tentaspy from a baby, genetically created and grew up that way.  He can stay on land longer then most tentaspies I know, has gills, and can preform a type of cloak-like invisibility without a spywatch.

))) The Spy in Territory Control was grafted to an actual giant octopus so he has a hectocotylus - as well as siphons and a beak that he can eat out of.  (This I find fascinating and awesome.) (for those wondering he then defecates out of the siphons like real octopuses).

))) Meesh’s tentaspy Clovis also lacks a penis to my knowledge Though he himself is the biggest dick known to man.  Also he’s been changed slowly into a tentaspy over a series of added re-spawn experiments and has a blood triggered prey-drive that he can’t control.  Later on he gets an enlarged ribcage with awesome back spines.

))) Zenami’s RED Tentaspy boy Sebastian is all around awesome, but I actually am not sure on his penis-status.  He’s got second eyelids and cool spines.

Well, sometime I shall have to draw out my anatomical quirks for the interested…

To address specifically the question of my genitalia (why anyone cares to know, I couldn’t tell you…): I have my original, pre-respawn error parts, right where they should be. The line between man and octopus sort of forms a vee following my hipbones. My pelvis is not entirely what it used to be, however… Somewhere in the back, instead of a coccyx and a human ass, I have a second heart and a boneless, formless pulpy octopus body. I have some kind of strange… I don’t know, cloaca or something. I haven’t messed about with it much. It probably does serve a sexual function, but I haven’t required it to.

I do have a beak. Every so often one of the arms snags something and tries to feed it to the beak without my input. It’s not a nice sensation, I don’t think… I try to keep a closer watch on them all to make sure that doesn’t happen. I’m sure the fish in my area appreciate that…

This is all actually pretty interestin’.

I think what quirked me interest the most is the fact ya’ have two hearts. Hope ya’ don’t mind me snoopin’, but I’m curious if ya’ know whether or not that second one works, and if it could keep ya’ alive if the original fails?

I don’t know if it’s strong enough, really… I mean, it’s in my ass. On an octopus, it’s probably a sensible place to keep a heart. It’s not the octopus’ ass, it’s just… more body. But it’s not centrally located enough to the rest of me, I think. I don’t know if it would get the blood to my brain fast enough if my own heart gave out…

It could probably keep my tentacles going for quite a while after I was dead, they all have sort of minds of their own… Ugh, imagine, me dead and the second heart beating and the neurons firing in all those arms and them trying to feed that beak while I just rot. Every time I think I could quite like my new body, I remember that it is potentially horrifying.

That’s probably true. An octopus’s heart works different than a human’s. Well, normally an octopus has three hearts that kind of work together to form one large heart, but that’s all just complicated bull crap. 

I’m sure if ya’ were completely dead then all ya’ organs would shut down, includin’ that second heart. I think it be interestin’, havin’ two heart beats, listenin’ to ‘em pump in a sort of rhythmic harmony. Ya’ shouldn’t be so hard on ya’self. 

You’re probably right… I suppose every so often it just gets to me, but for the most part I think I’ve accepted my new anatomy now…
